As I was trying to get additional information on the funeral arrangements for the deceased Drupattie, I have found out, and to my great surprise that she was my neighbor originally from Trainline, Port Mourant.

Drupattie ( Khemai ) Persaud , was known as Baby, the youngest
of the eight siblings, namely Birbal, Udit, Ashie, Danny, Bettygal, Jaso, Jagi, then the “Baby”.

Drupattie( Baby) was the mother of three children, Roshni, Ravi and Shiva, grandmother of one.

***Drupattie (Baby) was the aunt of Rajdai Jaipersaud (class of 1977) and Tapesh , aka Mike Kallicharran (my brother in law) from our CHS cricket team.

On behalf of my siblings, and the folks from Trainline , Port Mourant, I would like to extend deepest sympathy to Krishna, also a CHS grad , their children and Baby’s family.

  2. Julius Nathoo Says:

God bless you, Beauty! You have identified what is important in people’s lives!
This “remembrance of things past,” of one’s neighbours with whom we grew up, of all their precious siblings, is divine. These memories arouse “sensations sweet/ Felt in the blood and along the heart/ And flowing into the purer mind of tranquil restoration.” (Wordsworth)
What Kamie said of you on the occasion of your birthday is so true!

  3. Beauty ( Rawana) Ramotar Says:

    Thank you Jules.

Sometimes the most difficult choices are the very ones that can bring us the greatest rewards.

I grew up among the most wonderful people of Port Mourant , and memory is a way of holding on to the things we never want to lose.

Jules, I do appreciate your acknowledgement of Kamie’s comment on my birthday, and on this note, I would like to mention that today , April 29th would have been the deceased, Drupattie’s 57th milestone.

What an irony that Drupattie (Baby) has passed away in the week of her birthday.

    But God knows best, that—————

“When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound,
and time shall be no more,
    And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather
    over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.”

I was told that it was very painful and tearful for the family who got together today for a “wake” and a memorial observance for the deceased at the home of her older surviving sister , aunty Jaso’s home in Ozone Park,Queens.

It was said that just looking at her wedding photo tugged at their very “heart strings”.

**** I would like to add that Drupattie was also the aunt
of another one of our CHS grads. He is Rajendra Udairam , grad year 1975 / also CHS Teacher.
