Wonderful old colonial building in New Amsterdam. It is refurbished and looks clean and nice. It is located near the public road going to the Rosignol stelling .On the right side of the picket fence is the large spacious grounds of the Botanic Garden. This beautiful garden as I remembered as a teenager is adorned with beautiful flowers and shrub green fence. I had many trysts in this garden in my tender years. It was a nice getaway from the Corentyne. I always bring my high school girl friends to this quiet and secluded garden.I remember this large elegant gazebo – some people call it a shed, its nice painted benches to stretch out, or to have a nice lunch with friends and family. Going to New Amsterdam was like an excursion for me, and for a place to business for the Berbice county. It brings back lots of nostalgic memories. We must not forget that Guiana was under the Dutch administration for over 100 years, lest we forget our history, hence the name New Amsterdam, which is named the current capital of Holland. My little take for all Berbicians.
