View of Sheet Anchor from the Canje Creek bridge, Dec 2018
This was the village in which I spent my youth in the fifties as a student at BHS. How powerful this scene is in evoking emotional memories of times gone by!! At this time I look for friends with whom I can reminisce about these heavenly times but can find none since they are “hid in death’s dateless night.” Then can I drown an eye unus’d to flow.. I am comforted by the immortal lines of William Wordsworth written above Tintern Abbey:
“These beauteous forms have notbeen to me
As is a landscape to a blind man,s eye.
For oft amid the din of cities I have owed to them
Sensations sweet felt along the blood and in the heart
Feelings too of unremembered pleasure
Such perhaps that have no slight or trivial influence
On a good man’s life: his little unremembered acts of kindness and of love.” .
