On behalf of the CHS-JCCSS Alumni Association and the Latchana family, I would like to express our deepest sympathy and sincere condolence to the children and family members of Harold Chee on his passing away . Mr Chee was highly respected and admired by many whom he has touched over the years as a great educator. He has made a sterling contribution to the educational system in Guyana having taught thousands of students during his exemplary teaching career.

Mr Chee who was born in Pln Albion, started out his career and taught for many years at the Albion Canadian Mission Primary School.  Early 1960’s, Mr Chee first appointment as a Head Master was at the Belvedere  Primary School which was then located in the renovated old Canadian Mission Church building which was moved from Pln Albion Estate. Shortly afterwards, Mr Chee was appointed Head Master at a primary school  located at Hague Back on the WCD.

Although, I was never taught by Mr Chee, I knew him personally for quite a long time as his late wife, Alvina nee Chinapen was our mother’s first cousin. Apart from being a teacher, Mr Chee took an active role with the Canadian Presbyterian Church  in the Albion area. He was a church  elder and also a lay preacher and I do recall him conducting prayer services at our home at Fyrish.

Mr Chee was not only a teacher of excellence and dedication but also a very talented artist. After retirement from a very successful and illustrious teaching  career with the Primary School system, Mr Chee  took up a position as an Arts teacher with Berbice High School, New Amsterdam until he finally migrated to Canada to join his children in the Toronto area.

May his soul RIP.
